Lord’s Taverners Ireland partnered with Dead Ducks Motor Cycle Club in 2018 with the joint goal of arranging one of the largest fundraising events to date for our charity and what a success it was!
REVUP 2018 took place 5th – 7th May 2018 and nearly 50 motorbikes departed Dublin on a 2 night / 3 day mystery tour.
The aim of REVUP 2018 was to raise enough funds to purchase a minibus for St. Michaels School Holy Angels in Chapelizod in memory of one of REVUP’s founders, Aidan Lynam, who was tragically killed in 2015.
On Friday 21st December this promise became a reality as a brand new minibus was delivered to St Michaels School Holy Angels and the reception received was incredible.
Some of the REVUP participants took time off work to escort the bus in through the school gates and to see a large group of students, staff and parents clapping, cheering and waving a thank you banner was a sight never to be forgotten. Some bikers were even seen putting their helmets back on to discreetly wipe away some happy tears – but we won’t mention any names!
The bus was opened up and surrounded by the students who proceeded to sing Christmas carols and take it in turns to board it. Some were even taken on a spin around the car park.
Following this was an invitation into their school hall for a private mini concert to listen to some songs sung by a choir made up of students from various classes throughout the school as a thank you and the morning ended with some lovely refreshments.
It was a very proud morning for the family and friends of Aidan Lynam and a huge testament to all participants of REVUP 2018!
