Friday 17th August was another great day out for Lord’s Taverners Ireland as 21 teams turned up to play in the 10th Annual Golf Day at Castle Golf Club.

Although there was rain in the morning, the weather Gods smiled fondly upon us and it cleared for the afternoon, resulting in an enjoyable day for all players.

Scoring was extremely high this year and we were delighted to congratulate the first ever all ladies team to win the competition. Team Cricket Ireland came first with a score of 92 points, followed by team Alan McClean (91 points) and team Alan Lewis (85 points). Angela O’Connor won the ladies longest drive and Clive Davis the men’s longest drive.

All worthy winners were presented with some excellent Italian wine and after play, the teams and guests enjoyed dinner back in the club house.

After dinner attendees were treated to a huge surprise when two members of the Ladies Irish Hockey team and World Cup Silver Medallists,  Anna O’Flanagan and Chloe Watkins took part in a questions and answers session led by our compere on the night, Alan Lewis.

Funds raised went towards the cost of purchasing specialised equipment, enabling us to continue ‘Giving young people, particularly those with special needs, a sporting chance’.

We look forward to returning to Castle Golf Club in for our 11th outing on Friday 16th August 2019!
